Pushing governments to provide the frameworks, funding, and infrastructure needed to scale Agroecological practices is our ultimate goal. By engaging policymakers, advocates can integrate Agroecology into national agricultural policies, ensuring legal recognition and support. Makandura Sustainable Agricultural Research and Training
Center for Ecological Farming is such institution conducting research on Agroecological inputs, conducts training programs for peasants. Institution has gained credibility backed by other government Agriculture institutions, facilitating wider adoption. This collaboration also bridges
gaps between grassroots movements and top-down policies, fostering sustainable, equitable food systems.
Makandura Sustainable Agricultural and Development Center has Agroecology demonstrations, Research, and Training on Ecological farming are conducted. This includes growing rice using the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method using organic fertilizer, various crop cultivations including coconut, fish ponds, research using environmentally friendly inputs such as compost
tea. Similarly, a crop demonstration on ecological farming has been established here to obtain practical contribution for farmer training.

- Weather in Makandura is hot and humid, so wear comfortable clothes.
- September is in the inter – monsoon searson. there might be occasional rain at evening time. Be ready.
Site Visit Experience
The Makandura field visit was carried out with a total of 17 participants under the coordination of Mr. Chaminda. The visit was supported by 2 volunteers, 2 interpreters to assist with communication, and 2 media personnel who took photos and videos of the activities.
